The Lick Bowl
Lick Bowl · rolling ball

Keeps your dog busy licking. No mess.

A rubber bowl with a rolling ball in the middle. Pour in bone broth, yogurt or puree. The ball lets out a little with each lick, so the bowl doesn't tip and the floor stays clean. Licking calms dogs down. This gives them a safe way to do it.

Thunderstorm night, calm dog

Filled it with broth when the storm started. She licked for twenty minutes and then fell asleep. First time that has ever happened.

No more yogurt on the floor

The ball actually works. He pushes it around and it only lets a little through. The bowl has not tipped once.

Good for small and medium dogs

Our beagle loves it. Our lab figured out how to pop the ball off in a week, so keep an eye on big jaws.

Pill hider

Peanut butter, pill, ball on top. Done. Cheaper than the pill pockets I was buying every month.

Dishwasher, done

Three pieces, top rack, nothing gets stuck in corners. My old lick mat grew things.

Freeze it

Frozen pumpkin puree lasts almost an hour. Wish it came in a bigger size for my two.

Dog licking from the bowl
Why it works

The ball does the trick.

Licking releases endorphins. A bowl that makes it last does more for an anxious dog than a chew
The ball meters liquid one lick at a time, so a 30-second gulp becomes a 15-minute job
Weighted rubber base and a low center of gravity. It gets pushed, not flipped
Good questions

Before you buy

Is the ball a choking risk?
The ball is 5 cm, larger than a golf ball, and sits in a socket. It is sized for small to large dogs. For a very large breed that chews hard, watch the first few uses.
What can I put in it?
Bone broth, plain yogurt, pumpkin puree, mashed banana, wet food thinned with water, or peanut butter with a pill inside. You can freeze it too.
How much does it hold?
About 180 ml, which is a small cup. Enough for 10 to 20 minutes of licking.
Does it really not tip?
The base is weighted and wider than the top, so it gets pushed around, not flipped. On a hard floor it stays put.
How do I clean it?
Three pieces pull apart. Top rack of the dishwasher, or a rinse under the tap. No seams for old broth to hide in.
What if my dog ignores it?
Give it 30 days and a few different fillings. If your dog still won't touch it, email us your order number and we refund the full price. Keep the bowl. No return label, no questions.
